Is There a Missing Link to COVID-19 Treatment?
On March 15, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially characterized the spread of the novel coronavirus from China as a global pandemic. One hundred years ago, osteopathic physicians were deeply involved in treating thousands of patients of Spanish influenza. As a profession, osteopathic medicine can offer critical perspectives and techniques for today’s pandemic and those of the future.

The objectives of this webinar are:
1. To review the history and significant pathology of infection with the SARS-CoV2 virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.
2. To propose anatomy and physiology from an osteopathic perspective, which is integral to supporting the respiratory components of infection by SARS-CoV2.
3. To propose that osteopathic manipulative medicine has and continues to provide a perspective on the treatment of various viral respiratory infections, including SARS-CoV2.
4. To motivate osteopathic educators, trainees, and students to not only use various osteopathic treatments in patients, but to research and verify the effectiveness of the osteopathic approach.
5. To prepare health professionals from all areas of expertise to offer effective treatment for SARS-CoV2, especially in the event that hospital and clinic resources are overrun, inadequate to the task, or have simply run out of treatment options.
